PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to attend a class, we need you to simply call us and let us know what class you are planning on attending. Teaching a class demands significant preparation for each instructor. We need to have at least four people to attend each class in order to make it all the necessary preparation for each instructor worthwhile. It is time to reveal our BIG NEWS. We are opening a “CLASSROOM” . We will be offering Quilt, Art and Craft classes at our place. Opening day is September 16th with classes starting on the 17th with an evening paint class. This is an ongoing class but NEW paint classes will be starting soon. Wednesdays will be a Sit-n-Sew day for anyone who wants to come in an work on a UFO or any project. We are hoping that ladies/gentlemen with get together for fellowship and sewing away from their normal. We will be posting our class schedule two weeks at a time at first then a month at a time once we get started good. If you are interested in giving a class on anything, just call us and we will work our at date and time for you. There is a small fee for the room which will be assessed at time of scheduling. Classes can be half day, single, multiple days/weeks etc. The only stipulation is that the classes be open to the public. This is a community learning facility.

Sept. 17th Paint class w/Sherry Wilfong (on going class) 5 pm
Sept. 18th Sit-n-Sew 10 am to 4 pm
Sept. 19th Jelly Roll Race w/a kick. 1 pm to 4 pm . You need basic sewing supplies and 1 Jelly Roll of fabric. Jelly Roll- 40- 2 1/2″ Strips WOF. $10.00 This is a beginner class. Beginner means: You know your machine. You know what a 1/4″ seam allowance is. You have made a few easy projects or quilts.
Description of this class: You will sew your strips together and end up with small mixed color quilt which can be made bigger with borders. I will explain the Kick before we start.

Sept. 26th Dresden Plate Pillow 1 pm to 4 pm. $15.00. You will need basic sewing supplies with a rotary cutter. 4-5 coordinating FQ’s, 1/2 yd. fabric for pillow and if you want a different color for middle you will need 8 inch square for this. Also thread to match your colors for machine applique.
Description of this class: You will learn to cut your plate blades with a Dresden ruler, make your plate and applique it onto your pillow top. This is a beginner class.
This will be a great asset to our community and we do hope everyone will take advantage of the space. We look forward to working with and meeting all of you creative people from here and surrounding areas. Deb Ann
We will be offering a “How to Bind your Quilt” on Friday evening Sept. 13th at 5:30 pm with Kathy Badgett- Class fee is $10.00, materials for class will be provided. You will learn how to make and Illusion quilt using WV Bird blocks, with Debbie Walker on Saturday Sept. 14th at 9 am. Class fees are $50.00 w/pre-cut kits or $60.00 w/ custom color kits. Don’t forget the “Old Fashion Quilting Bee” is coming up on Sat. April 28th at 10 am to 2 pm. Go to the Rec. Hall at Watoga State Park. Bring a covered dish and be ready to enjoy learning Hand Quilting on an actual quilt. Lunch will be whatever you all bring. See you there.

I am back from the WV Quilt Festival in Summersville. It was a beautiful show of amazing quilts along with a display of 1800’s quilts from a collections. Despite the rains and bad roadways it was deemed a success by the people who worked so hard to make it possible. I enjoyed myself and met amazing people. I also had an teaching experience that I enjoyed very much – Thanks to Vickie Graham for inviting me to be a part of the event. Also, I want to thank Joanna Corrdell, a wonderful friend who braved the weather and spent all three days helping me. All is unpacked and mostly back to normal at the shop. Thursday is the first day of the WV Quilt show in Summersville, WV. There will be beautiful quilts, vendors from lots of WV towns, classes and much more. The Yellow Creek Quilter’s will be at the shop on Sat. June 18th for Sewing Machine repair/cleaning and scissor & knife sharpening. He will start at 10 am and work through the day. You can bring your machines by before that and leave them for him or call to set up a spot to have your work done. If he needs to replace parts he will take them and send them back later. You can also bring any quilt tops in that you need quilted and they will take them with them to complete. Call 304-653-4150 for you spot or with questions.
The Alderson Quilt Retreat was a great success from my view. The ladies in the Alderson Quilt Guild really do a wonderful job with their retreat. I want to thank them again for including me in their retreat. Also I want to wish all you Mom’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day. What a great job – Being a Mom – Don’t you think. Happy Quilting.

I have spent the last few days getting prom dresses ready for the beautiful ladies to wear. Thank you for trusting me with your lovely dresses girls. Also, I will be packing the car this evening for the Alderson Quilt Retreat Fri. & Sat., can’t wait it is always a great time. My friends have been helping me sort and put up new fabrics. There are prints of all types and styles. We will still be working on them for a few days but if you don’t mind unorganized mess you are welcome anytime. Also, I am in the middle of prom dress alterations and getting ready for the Alderson Quilt Retreat this week-end. So as you can this is a busy place. But it still is not work to me. I had a surprise visitor today, my sister. She brought me some fleece I’d bought from a shop owner she knew. So now we have pre-cut, surged fleece blankets for sale in prints and solid colors. Also, we received a few new bolts of fleece. Come in and check them out. These would make great gifts for kids, ball games, cars and many more ideas. See ya soon.
I am back from Puerto Rico and my R & R, which was a wonderful time. I recommend a trip there to anyone looking for a great place to go at a reasonable price. It is hard to get back into the swing of things but there is a lot to be done to get ready for quilt retreats and shows throughout the summer. All the BOM blocks are finally all cut out and ready when each months blocks are to be picked up. Getting the Row by Row kits ready is next to be completed.
