The last day of our quilt retreat was busy and busier! Debbie’s class was a “Stacked Pinwheel” lap quilt. It was, according to our infamous instructor, a complicated looking project but very easy. From the look of concentration on everyone’s face, I wasn’t so sure about that statement but, nonetheless, the results were stunning! As you can see, from the smiles on everyone’s face, they had a marvelous time!
Diana’s morning and afternoon classes focused on a variety of modern quilting techniques. The morning class focused on designing, piecing as you go and playing with color. The afternoon session allowed participants to experiment with straight line quilting, quilting with rules and gaining experience with using a walking foot.
And, as always, we owe a huge “THANK YOU” to Mr. Badgett from Yellow Creek Quilters for coming to repair and tune up our sewing machines, sharpening our scissors and bringing completed quilt projects back to Pocahontas County. As always, it is an absolute pleasure to see you and your helpers!
I think it is safe to say, we were exhausted by the end of the retreat (instructors and class participants alike), but new friendships were formed, quilting skills were honed and confidence was gained by all. Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2017 Fall Into Quilting experience. If you were unable to attend this year’s event, we will be hosting our second annual “Spring Into Quilting” retreat in May 2018, and our 4th Annual Fall Into Quilting retreat in October 2018. See you soon!
