On our opening day of the 2017 Fall Into Quilting retreat, the day started with a heavy frost and some cold temperatures outside! However, inside the Wellness Center, the excitement was palpable. Between greeting fellow quilters from previous years and introducing folks new to the retreat experience, friends catching up with each others lives, staking out table space, getting machines set up and picking up materials for the days classes, it was very exciting!
Diana class started their day with a crazy patch Christmas stocking. May I just say, the decorative stitching was to die for!
Debbie’s class opened with a blue jean tote. The colors were amazing and everyone had a great time!
Diana’s afternoon class, was learning the various parts of working on a whole cloth quilt. During the first part of the class, participants worked with stencils and how to do trapunto’. Boy it was scary watching folks cut away their fabric!
In Debbie’s afternoon class, participants worked on a mystery half square triangle project. It was amazing to watch patterns emerge simply based on the way the triangles were arranged!
While the day was very busy and classes were challenging, a wonderful time was had by all! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
