Our afternoon sessions got off to a great start! The clouds parted, a soft breeze came in and the creativity was flowing! Diana’s class embarked on a journey into free motion quilting. Free motion quilting is all about practicing…playing really…with your sewing machine, thread and fabric. The focus here is on unmarked free motion background fill patterns to help you gain skill and confidence in your stitching abilities. While it can be somewhat intimidating, none of the class participants appeared to lack confidence as they continued to develop their skills.
Debbie’s class was feverishly working on a disappearing nine patch table runner. A variation of the typical nine patch block, disappearing nine patch patterns are actually much easier to make than their complicated appearance seems. Disappearing nine patch quilts are perfect for using up your charm packs and are fantastic scrapbusting quilts. If you’ve been searching for a way to mix up your usual quilting routine, then you’ll love these stunning disappearing nine patch patterns our class participants whipped up this afternoon!
It has been a creative and remarkable day! Tomorrow we have four new classes for our participants and Yellow Creek Quilters will be on site for scissor sharpening and sewing machine repair. See you soon!
